5 Celebs Who Took a Stand During the Oscars
Jennifer Gillespie

As public relations folks, us Diamond PR ladies understand the value of publicity during the Oscars… when you have 80 million+ eyes and ears hanging on your every word. Not surprisingly, celebrities know best how to capitalize on this by taking a stand for their beliefs while they have the international spotlight. Here are five celebs who spoke out during the Oscars last night:
  • Chris Rock’s opening monologue on #OscarsSoWhite
  • Lady Gaga’s “Till it Happens to You” performance
  • Leo DiCaprio honoring Native Americans during his Best Actor acceptance speech
  • Sam Smith dedicating his award to the LGBT community
  • Winner of Best Documentary Short, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s acceptance speech on the power of film to make tangible changes

Powerful messages indeed! Any others that stood out to you?

I love that Brie Larson thanked movie goers. Without that….there is nothing. I also love that Ennio Morricone has done American movies for years, yet still only speaks Italian. I guess music really is the universal language.

This South Beach resident balances out her tropical home base with snowboarding trips to the mountains in the winter. Otherwise, all other trips are subject to where the wanderlust takes her. #justbookit
