Social Talk

Oh Snap!

Oh Snap!
Lisa Schwartz

From SXSW to the recent inaugural Travel Influencer Summit, there was one word that had everyone talking. Well, technically it’s two words, but for branding purposes, we’ll just say the one, and that is Snapchat.

This crazy little social app has the entire media industry turning itself inside out to understand how to leverage the platform’s massive reach to engage their consumers.  Just when we were getting a grasp on how to use Instagram to market effectively, here comes Snapchat that has us all starting again from scratch. And this one is going to take a while with no measurement numbers or analytics already built in.

So in the mean time, lets all just enjoy the playful, personal and engaging elements of Snapchat and take it for what it is; a peak into the lives of our friends and the people we’d love to be friends with.

Here are just a few of my favorite people to follow –

YesJulz – This Miami-based self-proclaimed Director of Vibes is #NeverNotWorking – or Snapping. Her life is an open book and she’s an inspiration to every female hustler out there.

DJ Khaled –  Snapchat made this guy completely relevant again. His Snaps are packed with celeb cameos and can sometimes be a little excessive, but his Fan Love meet ups draw crazy crowds and I just love when he talks sweet nothings to the flowers in his yard.

ScoutTheCity – The adorable curly haired NY-based mother-daughter blogger duo are not only beautiful, funny and sweet, but their Snaps also provide a lot of great healthy food and fashion inspo for stylish women and tykes alike.

MookyGwopson – This former Epic Meal Time chef turned Youtube star and TV Host, still finds time to do a ton of crazy cooking at home. From stuffed meatballs on a stick to poached egg porn, not only is he creative in the kitchen, but he also rocks a mean pompadour.

@Rhodes411 – I asked Snapchat storyteller David Rhodes if he was a comedian before hitting the social scene because his Snaps are so well thought out and incredibly witty. He’s got emojis for days and he’s not afraid to use them.

RachelRoams –  A recent addition to Snapchat but not to the travel influencer world, this girl is a Jill of all trades. Her TV and video production background shows through in her Snaps as does her quirky and super silly personality.

And last but not least, a special shout out to Diamond PR clients HedonismJamaica & RWBimini for being our first clients to get in the Snapchat game! Don’t forget to check them out. (Be warned, Hedonism II’s may not be suitable for work)

Who are some of your fave Snapchatters? Let me know in the comments!

Though she loves to travel almost anywhere, Lisa’s preferred spots are near the sun and sand. When not on the beach you’ll find her in a pretzel-like position practicing her yoga or browsing the latest fashion trends online.
