July’s Biggest Social Media Moments

July’s Biggest Social Media Moments

July saw a ton of social media moments that sparked opinions on a range of topics from the #blacklivesmatter movement to the PokemonGo craze. If you logged on to any social media platform in July, you probably saw some new changes and updates, read a few major stories, and saw some pretty entertaining things on your timelines, news feeds, and stories. Here are a few of July’s biggest moments.

SNAPCHAT
The epic feud between Kanye West and Taylor Swift erupted in July when Kim Kardashian West posted a series of videos on Snapchat showing Kanye talking to Taylor on the phone about his song “Famous” — a song that she previously labeled as offensive and derogatory. The snaps, which were intended to “out” Swift as a privileged mean girl, ignited one of the most public (and hilarious) celebrity feuds in a long time. It certainly made for great lunchtime table gossip here at Diamond PR!

INSTAGRAM
In July, Instagram began rolling out its new business feature. The new tool means that businesses can now monitor analytics, promote posts, and get better information about their audiences at the tap of a button. The business tool will roll out in the “coming months” in the U.S., and will reach all regions worldwide by the end of the year. FACEBOOK
A Facebook video showing the aftermath of a deadly shooting of Minnesota resident Philando Castille sparked national outrage on July 7th. The video, which was streamed via FacebookLive by Castille’s girlfriend, was seen and shared by millions, further igniting the conversation about racial issues and police brutality in America. Read Mark Zuckerberg’s official statement on the post here.

TWITTER
Nothing sparks more Twitter debates than politics. In July, after the Democratic National Convention, presidential nominee Donald Trump tweeted that Sanders “sold out” and abandoned his supporters, in which Bernie responded with two words: Never Tweet.

When she’s not chasing around her english bulldog or capturing instagrammable moments in her neighborhood of downtown Miami, you can might catch this island girl at the beach with her toes in the sand and a spicy cocktail in hand.
