While we’re very lucky here at Diamond PR to have an incredible client roster that we get to experience with our media friends, I recently co-hosted a press trip to Barnsley Resort in Georgia that offered a girls’ getaway like no other. This trip was definitely something out of the ordinary for me – swapping sandals for riding boots and snorkel gear for fly rods and golf clubs.
The first thing I noticed when we arrived at beautiful Barnsley was that it was truly spring! Green leaves, blooming flowers, butterflies and cool mornings – living in Miami, we don’t get to experience the real change of seasons, so I was already loving it. Over the next few days, we met up with our fun group of rowdy girls for one adventure after another – a guided horseback ride through the woods and across streams, a fly fishing lesson, perfecting our swing on the golf course and the most exciting of all – clay shooting! I’d never actually held a gun before, so this was a new experience and our instructor Skip was the perfect guide to making us all feel comfortable and in control. Once you shatter one, you won’t want to stop.
When we needed to recover from all the fun with a little down time, the cottages at Barnsley Resort offered the perfect cozy retreat. And when we’d worked up an appetite, there was no shortage of delicious Southern dishes at the two restaurants and the fun outdoor beer garden. To top it all off, we enjoyed bourbon cocktails, lawn games and even gourmet s’mores by the fire!
So if you’re looking for a fun escape where you’ll do more than sip Champagne by the pool and spend time in the spa (although you can also opt to do that at Barnsley if you choose), check out the new “Annie Get Your Fun” package, grab your girls and get ready to aim for those clays!

When she’s not trying to see as much of the world as she can, she’s catching a live sporting event, trying to read more books than she did the year before and hanging out in Coconut Grove.
